Conservancy trail lighting project awarded $24,540

January 28, 2015  | By Shoal Creek Conservancy

Lighting along the Shoal Creek Trail is about to get a little brighter thanks to a $24,540 pledge by the City of Austin Public Works. The funds, announced today in response to a Shoal Creek Conservancy application to the Department’s Neighborhood Partnering Program, will be used to purchase and install solar-powered lighting under the W. 12th Street and Lamar Boulevard bridges, making these areas more inviting and safe for trail users at night.

As part of the partnership, the Conservancy will be providing $2,500 in matching funds and has committed to maintain the trail areas around the bridges for two years through our volunteer work day programs.

We are extremely excited to partner with the City on this trail improvement and wish to thank the following organizations for their support of the project and application:

Austin Community College
Bacon
Cirrus Logic
Davis Gallery
Downtown Austin Neighborhood Alliance
Nokonah Homeowners Association
Old Austin Neighborhood Association
Terrace at Shoal Creek
Whole Earth Provisions
